RSV cases among ACT children aged under five are about 40 per cent lower than this time last year, but infections among older Canberrans remain largely unchanged, according to AMA ACT.
ACT Health has recorded 712 laboratory-confirmed RSV cases so far this year, including 97 in the week ending June 25.
AMA ACT said notifications among children aged 0-4 had fallen significantly compared with 2025, but there had already been 117 cases among people aged 65 and over this year.
AMA ACT president Dr Betty Ge said older adults remained at risk of serious illness and urged eligible Canberrans to speak with their GP about RSV vaccination.
Under the National Immunisation Program, RSV vaccination is free for eligible pregnant women, adults aged 75 and over, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 and over. The ACT Government also provides free RSV protection for eligible newborns, infants and children.
