A 30-year-old man has been charged after allegedly producing a replica firearm in front of passengers on a Canberra bus on Saturday.
Police say the man boarded the bus in Belconnen before approaching other passengers and producing the replica firearm. Officers later boarded the bus in Civic, but the man had already left.
On Sunday, police were asked to check on the welfare of a man at a Garran bus stop, but he had boarded another bus before officers arrived.
Following inquiries with Transport Canberra, police boarded the bus in Griffith and found the man with a replica firearm allegedly visible in his pocket.
He was arrested and police allegedly found another replica firearm among his belongings. CCTV footage subsequently identified him as the man allegedly involved in Saturday’s incident.
The man has been charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited firearm and one count of causing public alarm.
