An up close look at Bugs Bunny

american memorial

AN American eagle towers over Australia’s Defence establishment to remind us who is boss, they even dragged the Queen out to inaugurate it in 1954 just to make sure everyone understood the change in our circumstances.

October 17 being an auspicious day it marks the 60th birthday of the Australian-American Memorial on Russell Hill.

Defence tells us a new plaque has been unveiled:

The Secretary of the Department of Defence, Mr Dennis Richardson and the United States Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency John Berry today unveiled a new commemorative plaque at the Australian-American Memorial at Russell Offices in Canberra. The new plaque pays tribute to the sacrifice of American men and women in the defence of Australia and the war in the Pacific 1941-45. It also commemorates the construction of memorial in 1953 and its eventual completion in 1954.

Perhaps more interestingly they’ve also tweeted the above picture of the detail of the eagle more commonly known as “Bugs Bunny”.
