VILLAGE Building Company informs us that 13 years after they first began plans to develop South Jerrabomberra, Queanbeyan City Council announced on Wednesday evening that it has endorsed the first two development applications, enabling work to commence on the project.

This comes after having previously approved two concept development applications, which locked in the planning framework for 1,221 dwellings in the first stages of South Jerrabomberra.

Over 150 lots have been sold to date. They consist largely of standard residential lots ranging between 600 and 800 square metres in size with expansive views.

Work is expected to start early in the new year on 2 kilometres of the Northern Entry Road which will connect South Jerrabomberra to Tompistt Drive via a bridge over Jerrabomberra Creek.

Chief Executive of Village Building, Mr Bob Winnel, said he has long awaited the decision.

“I am pleased with the news as now we can start work on South Jerrabomberra. We aim to eventually deliver around 2,000 homes, most of which will be detached housing,” Bob said.

There are also a further 190 standard residential lots in the proposed plans of stages 1 and 2, which is expected to receive development plan approval around January and March next year. These stages also include various community facilities including; the proposed State Primary School site, two playgrounds, a playing field, a dog park, a conservation reserve and extensive walking/cycle trails.
