THE Australian Ballet has been exceedingly inventive in providing lockdown entertainment with its recent Instagram search for the company’s top 10 tutus. One of the front runners is John F Macfarlane’s Sugar Plum Fairy tutu for Peter Wright’s “Nutcracker”, a confection of Swarovski crystals, velvet and sparkle nets. The delectable winners can be viewed here

CANBERRA-Argentine pianist Marcela Fiorillo continues to provide a feast of music online, this time turning to the compositions of Ángel Lasala, whose style merges popular inspiration coming from Argentine folk music with elements coming from Spain and other European influences. Together with Ginastera and Guastavino, Lasala is one of the best-known classical composers from Argentina. Accessible here.
