THE perfect project for lockdown, the BMW x DESIGN Canberra’s car wrap competition is back and is open to the public, Craft ACT members, students and professionals. The winning “wrapped“ cars will be exhibited during the DESIGN Canberra festival from November 8-28. Winners will also receive a $250 cash prize, a BMW for the weekend from Canberra BMW and private wine tasting with cheese board and a bottle of wine from Lake George Winery. All details here

MANNING Clark House’s planned poetry reading with Rosa O’Kane, Sandra Renew and Moya Pacey on August 26 has been postponed, but in the meantime “Borderless”, a transnational anthology of feminist poetry, will be launched here at 8pm tomorrow, Friday, August 20.

THE weekly poetry event, “That Poetry Thing at Smith’s” on Mondays from 7pm-9pm will continue on Zoom, usually with open mic. Check for updates via smithsalternative.com

TEMPORARILY flattened by covid, Luminescence Chamber Singers have decided to cancel not only “The Desire For Hermitage” on August 22 but their planned performance at the National Portrait Gallery on September 4 and “Songs of Innocence” on September 18. But online workshops designed for musicians aged 10–17 will continue by zoom. Email lcc@luminescence.org.au for details. QUEANBEYAN’S “Christmas in September” markets are cancelled but the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council will push on with the “Caroloke” competition online and is now taking submissions here.

BUDDING Entertainment is planning a free performance of “Five Funny Plays” by John Lombard, Nigel Palfreman, Bart Meehan, Greg Gould and Kirsty Budding. The zoom performance will be live broadcast on the Budding Entertainment Facebook page at 8pm on August 28 and they are seeking actors of all ages. Sign up here.
