Second Omicron case confirmed for Canberra

THERE are now two covid cases of the Omicron variant in the ACT.

Based on whole genome sequencing in Canberra residents, ACT Health today (December 5) confirmed the second Omicron case was a close contact of the previously reported individual.

There were six new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday and the total of active cases in the territory stands at 110. 

Meanwhile, there were six patients with covid in hospital, two of whom is in intensive case, but neither on a ventilator.

And one new COVID-19 case has been confirmed in southern NSW today. The case is in the Yass Valley LGA, in Gundaroo, and is linked to a known case.
