CHRIS Latham, the Australian War Memorial’s first musical artist in residence, will give the annual Sandakan commemorative address at the AWM’s Sandakan Memorial, 2pm on Friday (May 27), but with a musical addition. Bill Risby on piano and actor Neil Pigot will perform Slim de Grey’s song, “They’ve Taken My Old Pal Away”, part of “The Changi Songbook”, to be seen in the “Flowers of Peace” tribute to World War II later this year at The Street.

THE Virtual Indigenous Film Festival is back for its fourth year in Reconciliation Week (May 26-30). Built around the theme “Be Brave. Make Change”, it features First Nations’ films, “My Name Is Gulpilil”, “Off Country”, “Wash My Soul In The River’s Flow” and Warwick Thornton’s new series “Firebite”, with short films by emerging talent. The films will be followed by live Q&A panel discussions. All-access pass available here.

ARTSOUND FM, Canberra’s arts and music community radio station, will hold its annual on-air “Radiothon” fundraiser from May 27 to June 5, culminating in an Open Day on Sunday, June 5. This year’s theme is “ArtSound Earfest”. All details at artsound.fm

“TOO Peas in a Podcast” is the smash-hit podcast about celebrating, supporting and understanding parents of children with disabilities. Mandy Hose and Kate Jones, each the parent of twins with disabilities, started their podcast in May, 2019, and it’s since been downloaded more than two million times. They’ll present “Where are the Scissors?”, a podcast live show at Tuggeranong Arts Centre, on Saturday (May 27). Book here.

MUDGEE and regional NSW’s best-known outdoor sculpture exhibition, “Sculptures in The Garden”, will return for its twelfth year, October 8-23 at Rosby Wines, and will no doubt attract Canberra entrants. The call for submissions is now open here.
