AS of this evening (January 4), the ACT State Emergency Service has received nearly 800 calls for help following a severe thunder and hailstorm late yesterday afternoon.
Most of requests for help were from Belconnen and Gungahlin, which were the hardest hit.

Thirty-five crews from the ACT State Emergency Service, ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT Rural Fire Service, and Transport Canberra & City Services responded to fallen trees on homes and roads, fallen power lines, localised flooding, and water damage across Canberra and worked overnight to clear 211 jobs.
ACTSES says the clean up is expected to continue into the coming days and with more unsettled weather is predicted at the end of the week, now’s the time to complete or update the 20-minute Survival Plan at esa.act.gov.au/survival-
For help during floods and storms, call 132 500. In a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero (000).
