Five-year-old seriously injured in playground incident

A FIVE-year-old boy was seriously injured in an alleged assault by a teenager at Monash Park Playground late on Friday afternoon.

Between 4.30pm and 5pm, the boy’s family was at the park where a teenager on a motorised bike was seen to be riding erratically in the local drains and parklands.

The teen reportedly headed towards the playground and allegedly assaulted the five-year-old boy while riding the motorised bike before fleeing. The boy was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to hospital.

The teenager was allegedly riding a black and white mountain bike with a small engine fitted under the seat.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident or anyone with information about teenagers with motorised pushbikes in the surrounding region.  Call 1800 333000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website
