Four playgrounds to be upgraded

CONSTRUCTION on upgrades to playgrounds in Ngunnawal, Chisholm, Gordon and Aranda is expected to begin before the end of the year.

The government says Burrumarra Avenue playground in Ngunnawal will receive a range of new equipment including:

  • climbing structures and slides
  • accessible play equipment.

In Aranda at Banambila Street playground improvements include:

  • a fitness station for all ages
  • a junior fort
  • central nature play area.

The Alston Street playground in Chisholm will receive:

  • a new basketball hoop and refurbished backboard
  • a new nature play area which includes climbing and accessible equipment
  • nest swing.

The Point Hut Pond playground in Gordon will be upgraded with:

  • a new nature play area with boulders
  • scramble nets and balance elements.

All four sites will include Ngunnawal cultural artwork and themes.

The government says it is also progressing work on the new destination playground in the inner north with the next stage of design work now underway. Procurement is also underway for the construction of the new Casey community park, with indicative final designs available online.
