Man charged for tattoo business fire

A 28-year-old man has been charged with arson following a fire at a tattoo business in Eloura Street, Braddon in June.

About 5.30am on June 19, ACT Fire and Rescue were called and the fire was quickly extinguished, with the scene indicating the fire had been deliberately lit.

An investigation began and CCTV from the area showed an aqua coloured Toyota Celica that was allegedly used by the offender.

The car was confirmed as being stolen from a home in Macgregor the day before, and was later found abandoned in Braddon.

Forensic examination of both the fire scene and car led police to identify the 28-year-old man, and he was arrested in Fyshwick on Thursday.

The man has been charged with arson, take a motor vehicle without consent and breach of parole.

As he was on bail for other serious offences at the time of his alleged offending, bail will again be opposed.

Police say investigations into other people who participated in the arson incident are continuing.
