Man faces assault charge on four-year-old boy

A 29-year-old man is facing court after police allege he seriously assaulted a four-year-old boy. 

Police we called to Canberra Hospital on Wednesday evening after ambulance staff concluded that injuries to the child were not consistent with the version of events provided to paramedics and hospital staff.

Police say the child had sustained a serious head injury and further examination revealed additional unexplained injuries.

A 28-year-old woman faced the Magistrates Court on Thursday for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. She was granted bail.

The man is facing a charge of aggravated recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
