Police nab mobile-phone thieves in the act

TWO 18-year-old men, on bail for other offences, have been arrested following an alleged aggravated burglary in a Belconnen shopping complex at 4.30 early this morning.

During the burglary of an electronics store, police allege, one of the men threatened security guards with a handgun.

When police arrived, they chased and arrested one of the men, who was carrying a large bag containing more than 50 iPhones and tablets. Police say he also had a concealed replica gun.

The second man fled in an SUV, which police tracked to Amaroo, where he was also arrested.

Both men face court, where they will be charged with aggravated burglary and possession of firearms.
