Police officer hit by flying hamburger

A 20-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a police officer with a hamburger in Civic early on Sunday morning. 

At about 3.45am on East Row, police allege the man threw the hamburger through the window of a moving, marked police vehicle, hitting the officer.

The man was arrested after a short chase. He was given bail (with no conditions) and is expected to face court later this month.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting police during a disturbance in Turner on Friday night.

At about 9.50pm police responded to reports of a disturbance in attended Forbes Street. While speaking with the people involved, the woman allegedly punched a police officer and subsequently resisted arrest.

She has been charged with assault a frontline community service worker and obstructing a territory public official. She faces court later this month.
